We manufacture spherical and hemispherical hoods and fairings for a variety of applications. A Fairing is a special type of spherical safety glass. Steeply curved spheres and fairings are the most labor-intensive spherical surfaces to manufacture.
They are intended for protecting optics and devices from external effects in cases where parts of the optical system protrude from the main body of a device or a machine. Fairings may also be used in UAVs and missiles. Depending on the operating range of the system spectrum, the fairing can be made of different materials. As a rule, quartz glass (KU) or sapphire is used in their production — for UV, visible, and near IR ranges, with zinc selenide (ZnSe) — for medium wave and far IR ranges
